Articulation Prior in an Axial Representation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Local symmetry axis based schemes have been used for generic shape recognition as they lead to articulation insensitive representations. Despite their strengths, purely syntactic level of axial representations precludes the possibility of distinguishing a likely articulation from an unlikely one. In order to overcome this weakness, syntax should be combined with pragmatics and/or semantics. As a solution we propose a novel articulation space which enables inferences on the likelihood of possible articulations. Articulation priors can be constructed directly from examples (pragmatics) or set externally (semantics). We incorporate articulation priors to a skeletal matching scheme to arrive at an enriched axial representation which is sensitive to unlikely articulations but insensitive to likely ones.

Deblocking Joint Photographic Experts Group Compressed Images via Self-learning Sparse Representation
JPEG is one of the most widely used image compression method, but it causes annoying blocking artifacts at low bit-rates. Sparse representation is an efficient technique which can solve many inverse problems in image processing applications such as denoising and deblocking. In this paper, a post-processing method is proposed for reducing JPEG blocking effects via sparse representation. In this ...

Any section or space in architecture that connects other sections or spaces called a joint. This research proposes using the word "Articulation" instead "Joint", on the basis of the etymology of both words. So in this abstract, the concept of "joint" is meant anywhere the word "Articulation" is mentioned. The present research deals with theoretical aspects of architecture. Its primary goal is t...

Bilabial, alveolar and velar sounds are produced at different locations around the oral cavity. fMRI was used to localize cortical representation of articulation in seven healthy subjects during repetitive lip and vertical tongue movements as well as repetitive articulation of /pa/ (bilabial), /ta/ (alveolar), /ka/ (velar consonants) and a combination of all three in /pataka/. Centers of gravit...

متن کاملPerception of Place-of-Articulation Distinctions: Common Representation for Vowels and Consonants
We look for a common perceptual representation of place-of-articulation distinctions between stop consonants and those between closed vowels. This representation can be either acoustic or articulatory in nature but not both acousticarticulatory because the acoustic consequences of front to back articulatory changes are inverted for stops and vowels. Identification data show that the perceptual ...
